1. From the Desk of Judi!

This week's topic is:

SPACE

Space Day, which is celebrated each year on the first Thursday in May, will
blast off on May 2, 2002. Co-chaired by former Senator John Glenn, this award-
winning global celebration is dedicated to the extraordinary achievements,
benefits and opportunities in the exploration and use of space.
Additionally, in celebration of Space Day 2002 . . .Adventure to Mars! the Cyber Space
Day Webcast will bring the exciting prospect of living and working on Mars
to students, teachers and space enthusiasts around the world. Live on May
2, 2002 from the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, the two-hour
Webcast will offer viewers the chance to learn from some of the foremost space
experts about Mars and the latest discoveries. Check it all out at:
http://www.spaceday.com

Also, the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May present
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see all of the planets in our solar system
in one single evening! Lined up across the early evening sky like baby ducks
crossing the road, naked eye observers in the Northern Hemisphere will be treated
to the sight of Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn!

NEWS FROM EDUMATCH

We told you about the new Premium Program for districts from our friends
at www.edumatch.com a while ago. It's starting to catch on and several
districts have enrolled. That's great news.

This is the free (yes, free!) service that will match your state's curriculum
standards to over 4,000 curriculum software titles and give district
administrators unprecedented control over the acquisition process.
Districts that subscribe to the edumatch Premium Program get a revolutionary new
tool for complying with state curriculum standards and a system of checks and
balances for controlling district spending on software.

There's much more, of course. We encourage you to go to www.edumatch.com
and click on Premium Program on the home page.

And don't forget: We think it's the only way to buy software that makes
sense!
edumatch matches curriculum software from over 150 publishers to your
state's curriculum standards, your teaching style, your students and your
hardware:
