THIS WEEK'S NEW LESSON PLANNING ARTICLE

Celebrate Mother's Day in a New Way!

http://www.educationworld.com/a_lesson/lesson263.shtml
Tired of doing the same Mother's Day projects year after year? Celebrate
Mother's Day with Motherhood Math, great ideas for Mother's Day gifts, and
more! Following are brief descriptions of the five new lesson plans we've
created to celebrate mothers on their special day:

1.
Celebrate With Silhouettes
Explore with students the history of silhouettes. Then create a keepsake
silhouette of each student. Frame it, or use it to make a special Mother's
Day card. (Grades Pre-K-8)

2.
Motherhood Math: Mothers in the Workforce
Provide students with a table showing how the number of working mothers
increased between 1955 and 2000. Have them use the table to complete the
work sheet. Work sheet provided.

3.
The Best Gift, for Shoe-er!
Help students turn an old shoe into a memorable planter for a terrific gift
for Mother's Day or any other occasion. (Grades Pre-K-5)

4.
As Good as Gold
Students create a Mother's Day Coupon Book full of coupons that can be
exchanged for special services rendered by students! Work sheet included.
(Grades K-12)

5.
Make a "Memories of Mom" Memento
A book of collected "memories of mom" makes a very special Mother's Day
gift. Included: Ten writing prompts for students. (Grades 3-8)
