Here's a press release I received from THE ADVENTURE LEARNING
FOUNDATION on their latest educational expedition.

THE ADVENTURE LEARNING FOUNDATION
www.QuestConnect.org

Prescott, Arizona -- Beginning May 6th and continuing for five weeks,
thousands of teachers and classrooms will be virtual participants in the
exploration of the natural environment and the ancient routes of the First
Nations people and the Gold Rushers through the wilderness of Alaska and the Yukon.

These participants will join a team of explorers from the Adventure Learning
Foundation as they travel over 5000 miles from the Foundation's base in
Prescott, Arizona to Fairbanks, Alaska - and back - in a specially equipped
satellite linked Expedition Vehicle. The explorers will also be studying the
unique natural environment, viewing the tremendous diversity of animal and
bird life andexploring the ghost towns left behind by the gold miners after the
lure of riches panned out.Teachers and students willlearn about the culture
and visit the traditional homelands of the First Nations people who have made
this region their home since crossing the Bering land bridge thousands of
years ago.

Students and teachers interact with the explorers during the expedition via the
Foundation's satellite linked website at www.QuestConnect.org. The
information produced for the Expedition is edited into educational materials
and suggestions for classroom discussions. There is no cost to any person
to become a participant. Free study guides and lesson plans are available at
http://www.QuestConnect.org to teachers and parents on the countries and cultures
explored.

And here's another press release I received.

NOVA - FIRE WARS
http://www.pbs.org/nova/fire/

Every year uncontrollable wildfires ravage the American West, and every year
armies of firefighters mobilize to save threatened wildernesses and communities.

On "Fire Wars," airing May 7 on PBS and narrated by actor Stacy Keach, NOVA
accompanies the men and women of the Arrowhead Hotshots during the summer
of 2000, one of the most destructive wildfire seasons ever, in which more than
six million acres burned. After a century of preventing forest fires at all costs,
it may be time to rethink Smokey the Bear's dictum.

On the accompanying Web site, get a first-hand account of filming a major
forest fire, equip a wildland firefighter, fight a virtual wildfire, and more.

category and age group, to use in their classroom.
