Today in Science/Astronomy:

* The Science Behind the June 10 Solar Eclipse
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/solarsystem/eclipse_scitues_020604
-1.html

Millions and millions of people have observed solar eclipses during
centuries and millennia past. Many of those people believed that the Sun
disappeared because it was being eaten by a dragon, by a wolf or
serpent. Or even a black pig.

* Musician Takes Zero Gravity Magic Carpet Ride
http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/tourism_020603.html

Popular Brazilian recording artist, Lulu Santos, hopes his new song,
"Todo Universo", climbs high on the music charts. He's got a good start
recording part of his music video for the new release in zero-gravity.

* Black Hole Dynamo: New Source of Free Energy Fills Universe
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/astronomy/black_hole_020603.html

Nuclear power, move over. There's a new and far more dramatic source of
energy out there, and wow is it attractive, at least theoretically.

* Earthlike Weather ... On the Sun?
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/solarsystem/sun_weather_020603.htm
l

The first measurements of weather just beneath the surface of the Sun
reveal remarkable similarities to weather patterns on Earth and other
planets.

Today in Missions/Launches:

* NASA Bumps Next Endeavour Launch Attempt to Wednesday
http://www.space.com/shuttlemissions/

NASA has again delayed shuttle Endeavour's next opportunity to launch,
this time to Wednesday, June 5.

* Reclaiming the Moon: Plans for a 21st Century Return
http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/solarsystem/moon_nss_020604.html

Giving the Moon a makeover in the 21st century may mean speckling its
inhospitable surface with welcome mats brought by colonists setting up
townships.

* Space Station Crew To Be Informed of World Cup
http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/sts111_exp5_worldcup_020531.html

The International Space Station's long-term expedition crew will be
regularly informed on the results of the 2002 World Cup matches, deputy
chief of the Russian Mission Control Center Viktor Blagov told Interfax.

Today in Business/Industry:

* Station Partners Set Timetable for Resolving Budget Issues
http://www.space.com/spacenews/index.html

The United States' partners in the international space station project
have agreed to give NASA until late this year to find a roadmap out of
the agency's budget crisis that threatens to cripple the station's
ability to perform scientific research.
