CONTENT:  A
"The Museum of Musical Instruments (MoMI) gives people a unique opportunity to
examine, explore, and experience the finest examples of 19th and 20th Century
musical instruments."

AESTHETICS: B+
The site uses a black background, white text, and colorful borders. Internet
Explorer is recommended for viewing this site. Netscape users will find that
some of the features do not display and the pages are slow loading.

ORGANIZATION: A
A left-side menu gives access to the main sections of the site. Sub-menus for
each section make navigating to the topic of choice easy for visitors.

REVIEW: A
Music lovers of all ages will enjoy the Museum of Musical Instruments (MoMI).
This virtual museum, which focuses on the guitar, features collections of the
various periods and movements of American music, including ragtime, hip, jazz,
country/western, and Spanish. Visitors to the site can view photos of the
guitars of such great artists as John Lennon, Les Paul, Woody Guthrie, and
Elvis
Presley. The Exhibitions section features multimedia presentations such as
Bound
for Glory: The Life and Times of Woody Guthrie, The Genius of Lloyd Loar, the
ZigZag Moderne Style, and more. Included also are selected newspaper and
magazine articles.

worthwhile. The Virtual Library includes a comprehensive electronic collection
of the author's works available in French, Spanish, and English. Visitors will
also find information about his life and work, a chronology, a bibliography of
his works, scholarly works and book reviews, a collection of Hebrew
translations
of Verne's work, and a collection of full-color Jules Verne stamps. Included is

a mailing list for discussing Jules Verne-related topics and a list of related
Web sites.

A top and a bottom navigation bar make navigation simple. Visitors can browse
the content by year, author/artist, subject, and images.

REVIEW: A
The Magpie is the literary magazine of DeWitt Clinton High School in New York
City. This site presents articles, poems, short stories, photographs, and
graphics from the magazine that cover the years 1929 to 1942. Students can get
a
glimpse of what the life of high school students in New York City was like
during the Great Depression. These selections from the Magpie are not only
representative of student life at that time but also a great example of how
powerful literary magazines can be for those who contribute to them as well as
to those who read them.

This Web site, developed by residents of the Spring Creek Youth Services Center

in Colorado Springs, Colorado, gives educators, parents, and community members

virtual glimpse into life at a youth detention center.

AESTHETICS: B+
The page layout is a simple table that serves the purpose well. Background and
text are complimentary, and the photos are high quality.

ORGANIZATION: B+
The left-side menu contains links to the major areas of the site. Visitors can
navigate internal pages by using the left menu or by following the arrows at
the
bottom of each page.

REVIEW: B+
This Web site was made possible through the Technology Literacy Challenge Fund
Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Its purpose is to "provide at-risk

students with computer and social skills needed to help them integrate back
into
society." Residents at the facility designed, created, and maintain the site as

part of the integration of technology into the curriculum. Visitors can take a
virtual tour of the facility and take a look at the traditional and
non-traditional curriculum taught there. Be sure to follow the arrows at the
bottom of the pages for a peek at the work students have produced in the
various
subject areas. The Artistic Expression section features visual art and computer

art as well as insightful poems and short stories written by these troubled
adolescents.
