I. On the Message Board

Here are some of the posts that are on our message boards. Check them
out, share your ideas, and have fun!

-"reading rods
I am wondering if there is anyone who would know where I can get free
resources for teaching reading, the resource I am looking for is called
"reading rods", there are phonetic and words rods. I am wanting to help
my son who is four and a half years old and also has Down syndrome. It
is important to use a visual and tactile approach for little ones with
Down syndrome. Also does anyone know where I can buy second hand the
"love and learning" reading kits 1-4. I am not able to buy new due to
costing."

-"I was going through some of my old files and I found an
article.....entitled, "Gifts All Year For Teachers". It includes a
list of things teachers said they would like to receive:
-Gifts of your time.
-Things for the classroom: colored paper, markers, crayons, fancy
scissors.
-A book for the classroom library.
-Art supplies: paper plates, feathers, glitter, beads, etc.
-Magazine subscription for classroom use.
-Towels or tablecloths with liquid embroidery designs or signatures..........."

sharing, or have job shared in the past. What are the pros and cons, etc.?"

II. New Freebies & Deals

Here is a quick sampling of SOME of the offers that have just been added
to the Free Things for Educators website. All of these offers were
added on September 26th. After each offer, I have listed the Grade
Level Page from the Free Things for Educators website where the offer
can be found. (If no grade level is listed, it can be found on any of
the grade level pages). The countries that each offer is available for
are also listed. If no country is listed, the offer is available
internationally (to the best of my knowledge).

This week's freebies and deals include:

III. From the Classroom...

This week's story was send in by Ava, a teacher in Ontario:

"Our prinicipal tells the story about her first grade teaching
experience with a parent at back to school night. Her child had asked
Ms.Naylor for a new pencil and she pulled one out of her hair. It was
the teacher's habit to keep extra pencils there. The parent confided in
Ms. Naylor that her son said she had pencil sharpener in her hair."

WE NEED YOUR STORIES!
We all have had funny or heart-warming experiences with kids! Share
them with us!

--------------

My son who is in first grade had Career Day today. This morning he
complained that his stomach hurt. I thought it was just his nerves (he
gets nervous/excited about things like this). It turns out he really
was sick! So, I am home with him today.

Have a good weekend everyone,
Kimberly
