CNN Presents: Classroom Edition

"16 Acres: The Debate Over Ground Zero"

This week's CNN Presents: Classroom Edition is "16 Acres: The Debate
Over Ground Zero." Be sure to set your VCRs - the program will air
commercial-free on the CNN network Monday, October 14, from 4:00-5:00
a.m. ET.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3000 people lost their lives when hijacked
planes struck the World Trade Center and the Twin Towers came crumbling
down. What was left after the terrorist attack-beyond the grief and
disbelief-was a 16-acre hole in the heart of Lower Manhattan, the site
of some of the most expensive real estate in the world.

Almost instantly, a debate ensued over how the land should be used.
Victims' families, neighborhood associations, experts and Trade Center
leaseholder Larry Silverstein all have ideas about what should happen to
the 16-acre patch of land. Some envision a memorial; others foresee more
skyscrapers and business opportunities; and others see a chance to
enhance the neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan. CNN Presents goes into the
streets of New York City to look at the fight over the future of Ground
Zero.
