        As far as I know, all flavors of VNC have the executable
as the same name: "WinVNC.exe". So one easy solution is to not
allow the user to indicate any other exectuable name as their
desired VNC server.

        That's a good idea. Let's change it so that if Kaboodle
tries and fails to start WinVNC in app mode, it reports "Sorry...
Kaboodle failed to start WinVNC on port number ####. That port
may be in use by another application, or the WinVNC server you've
indicated is invalid."

        Nah, that's probably going too far. A good suggestion,
