Lionel:

Heya. Good questions, let me try some good answers...

1. Right now, no, there is no way to specify another class-C range
in addition to the one that Kaboodle "finds". If there's only
one interface, that's the best way, else users can tell Kaboodle
to add *any* class-C range, and unless Kaboodle does some sort
of TTL check to see if the Kaboodle PC really is on that LAN...
   it gets crazy quickly.

However, if you're VPN'd, then there is a second (at least)
interface. Right now, Kaboodle doesn't deal with multiple
intrerfaces well; it's actually the cause of a crash some WinXP
users (with 1394 interfaces) see. We should be able to fix that
bug and meet your multiple-interface request with the same
   update ... with zero long-term commitment. :)

2. It is odd that Kaboodle wouldn't find your router at home. As
it checks the ARP cache to determine who the network members
are, I'm surprised it wouldn't know about the default route.
Unless you have it in some private/dark mode that causes it
   to refuse pings...?

cheers,
Scott

I've already got a (Cisco) VPN running. When I run Kaboodle from home, I get
my computer (192.168.1.x) and one office printer. All the office computers
are in the 10.0.0.x range. The documentation says it scans the class c range
of addresses for the current computer. Is there a way to specify another
range in addition to that? Can I just run the scan at work, save it, then
bring the file home (and be sure to not refresh)? I'd like to avoid "getting
engaged" - maybe just the typical male aversion to "commitment" :) - because
I don't want to run a redundant VPN.

Also, I find it kind of strange that it picks up one of the network printers
from the office, but not my router (Linksys) at home.

thanks,

Lionel
