I cannot be sure from what you wrote here, but I suspect this is just a terminology confusion. Routers often include firewalling capability, and if the " Edimax" you named below is actually an "Edimax Broadband Router BR6101", then it provides both routing and firewalling functions. Please read the referenced online manual I cited in an earlier message. It, along with the VNC reference Scott provided, really will tell you what you need to know to configure the Edimax to forward the needed port to the PC behind it.
