Frank:

        Heya. Some answers:

1. A timeout for discovery is a good idea but tricky to implement.
If you watch with tcpdump, during discovery Kaboodle attempts
to connect to some signature TCP ports. Trouble is, if the device
it's characterizing is rejecting packets (as opposed to
accepting or denying), then Kaboodle has to wait until the TCP
socket timesout. Usually, this happens on some products running
embedded Linux, like a TiVO or some Linksys products. I'll see
what we can do about this...

2. On paper, Zebedee supports an HTTP proxy, so in the "Advanced"
tab of the VPN Property Panel, you'll see a place where you
can specify one for direct GetEngaged connections. However,
the Zebedee-talk mailing lists seem to indicate that this feature
(for the supplied version of Zebedee binary) isn't very robust.
And given that I've no means to test it, I chose not to activate
it for this release. If you'd like, I could send you a "test binary"
that your friend could experiment with. Alternatively, you could
join the "kaboodle proxy" beta-testers group. The KaboodleProxy
binary is built for a Linux PC, and it can be setup to listen to
whatever port you want, including 80. Please let me know if you'd
be interested in helping to kick those tires.

3. There's no "test partnership network", no, because that would
require exchanging Partnership files beforehand. :) There will
be a test "Kaboodle Proxy" server, though, once the binary
   stabilizes a bit more.

        Hope this helps!
