We have a somewhat half-hearted command line tool to test end-to-end latency
(i.e. the time it takes to get a message from the producer to the consumer).
core/src/test/other/kafka/TestEndToEndLatency
It would be good to fix this up a bit and add a test case in the system test
suite that would allow us to regularly measure end-to-end latency.
