============ =========

Maastricht University (UM) aims to further strengthen its position as a
leading European university offering high-quality education with an
international orientation. To this end, the university implements a
proactive recruitment policy for international students, in particular
for the master’s programmes. Within this framework, scholarships are
made available by the UM Scholarship Fund with the aim of encouraging
talented students from outside the EEA to follow a master's programme
at UM: the UM HIGH POTENTIAL Scholarships.

Who is eligible?

Applicants must be accepted to a UM master's programme or graduate
programme for professionals and may be no older than 35 years at the
start of the academic year (1 September 2009). Applicants must come
from a country outside the EEA and meet the requirements for obtaining
a Dutch visa (‘MVV’ residence permit).

Amount of the scholarship

The scholarship is awarded for the duration of the programme, with a
maximum of 12 months per academic year. If a two-year master's
programme is involved, the UM Scholarship Committee may decide to award
the scholarship for a maximum of 24 months.

UM High potential scholarship

-Living expenses per month for a maximum of 12 months: € 800

-Insurance with a maximum of 12 months: € 500 (Arranged and paid by SSC)

-Visa costs: € 438 (Arranged and paid by SSC)

-Refund of tuition fee: € 11,500 (Arranged and paid by SSC)

Application & selection

You can download the application form here (pdf-file). Applications
have to be sent in by 1 April 2009 to the faculty
contact person for the UM HIGH POTENTIAL Scholarships.

The faculty will rank the candidates based on quality, and the Faculty
Board will send its selection to Student Services. Student Services
will then propose a candidate according to the faculty ranking. The UM
Scholarship Committee will make the final decision. Applicants will be
informed about the decision in writing.

In making its assessment, the UM Scholarship Committee takes all
elements of the application into account, including the level of
previous study programmes, average grades, duration of the programme,
content and originality of the study plan, motivation, status of the
foreign institution, the connection with the prior programme, future
plans, the proposal and the references.

Be sure to check the scholarship terms and conditions before applying.
