Yeah. Now you can send mega-patches to Linus and tell him that
he won't get caught in dualling mega-patches because the devel list
has approved this road map.

I think that CML2 and Kaos Makefiles should each have a transition
document, which ought to be part of the patch, in a file inside
Documentation/kbuild. That's the only place to put it where everybody
who's affected by the patch is guaranteed to have it. Plus, the more
docs there are, the less religious wars there will be.

I favor the former. It's easier to get the kinks out of the new system
without the old crap lying around. Linus certainly operates this way.
Back in the 2.1.1 days, the kernel did not even build for several versions,
and people were comfortable with that (Linus was certainly comfortable).
