Eric -- I see that the info I just sent is old and slightly out of date. Here is corrected information. The upshot is that both TN3215_CONSOLE and TN3270_CONSOLE may be specified for a kernel. If they are both specified, the type of VM console is accepted as is (learned from interaction with VM via a special interface); if only one is specified and the current type is the other, code forces it to be the one.
