Subject: [KCFusion] Ambiguous job openings

< cf rant about recruiters >

The previous ambiguous openings I posted about a week+ ago haven't
happened yet. No word on if they will or not. Sorry.

However, in the last 2 days a friend and I have each received calls from
different recruiters, both cagey as hell on telling us about the
jobs...though requesting assistance (don't you love the mutual trust!).
One was supposedly in Prairie Village doing CF work and paying pretty
well for 'perm' work. The other is for 2-3 CF positions in KC (no idea
where) for contract to perm positions. Recruiter claimed they were not
for the typical CF companies that come to mind lately as having
openings.

Due to the less than stellar openness I/we have received from these 2
recruiters in the last 2 days, it isn't fair to the others out there
(recruiters) to give these 2 a leg up in their job by telling you who to
contact (or the free advertising). If you are interested in their
contact information, or discussing possible alternative recruiters, feel
free to give me a call in the next day or so. My current office number
is 913-534-3932.

fyi, I'm a bit jaded with recruiters and have worked with a number of
them now, and some treat me well and others make me question every thing
they say. I understand they have a tough job and can't share all of
their secrets, but the constant battle between the parties forces me to
be on my toes whenever they call. As job seekers (and some of you are
employers), be weary of this profession. It is next to impossible to
gauge their honesty and who they really work for. Is it the employer?
The employee/contractor? Or a combination of both. Frankly, I can
rarely trust them 100% because of their vested interest. They get paid
by the employer, and have to treat them well to get the job postings and
to be chosen as the contractor who fills it, but they can't fill it
without the contractor. If they mistreat the contractor, he/she walks
(or doesn't accept the offer) and they don't get their commission (high
%), if they annoy the employer, or trick them into hiring the wrong
person, they burn themselves and loose out on future jobs.

Use them as a necessary evil, but know what you are getting into....and
at the very least, keep your eyes open to what they are and aren't
telling you.
