Well folks, most of you missed a great presentation by Brad Miller & Brian Grayless of Sunergize (www.sunergize.com) last night!
Brad demonstrated the basic functionality of a large Flash based intranet application that is processing thousands of transactions today. 100% of the site (front end) is in Flash (MX 2004 Pro, AS2) with AMFPHP (Flash Remoting) connecting to a PHP & DB2 back end. What is cool about this site is how truly responsive the interface is...comparable to a compiled/installed application would be, while running in Flash in a browser. A few cool things about their design: Moduler SWF files can be recompiled and dropped onto the server for immediate use on the client (i.e. easy to propagate bug fixes) Fast response times Extensive use of the Grid component Low risk of data loss should problems occur in the browser or connectivity, changes are saved instantly when you tab out of a field. Cross browser/platform compatibility. With FP7 running on Linux, Mac & PC, they can (and plan to) put their internal customers onto different platforms. As it is, they develop side by side on Windows & Linux and are considering moving over to Macs (all with zero percent change in code!) Thank you Brian & Brad!
