            Bug ID: 499080
Summary: Find in Files: Export matches doesn't work
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kate
           Version: 24.12.1
          Platform: Arch Linux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: application
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

EndeavourOS with kate v 24.12.0-1 and now 24.12.1, recently (last 1-2 months?)
can no longer use “export matches” in the “find in files” tool.

It still works properly on another computer: Debian 12 running Kate v 22.12.3.
See screenshot - Part C

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create a fresh user account in linux to rule out any issue with
configuration; switch xfce4 user to new user
2. open kate, create a text file with some text (I select-alled The Kate
Handbook index page)
3. enable the plugin “Search & Replace”
4. `Edit` > `Find in files`
5. toggle regex button ( `{}`) to ON
6. create a search query: `kate`
7. click `Search` button
8. right-click the top of the results list like “16 matches (16 checked) found
in current file”
9. select `Export matches`
   See screenshot - Part A
10. opens a dialogue with a text input field where you can put the regex
replacement string
11. in the text entry field at the top, enter `\0` to use the entire match
12. click `Generate`

OBSERVED RESULT

Nothing. No changes in the result box.

See screenshot - Part B

EXPECTED RESULT

The “Result” box below text entry field should populate with hits
