Just created a new user to test and, yes, exactly the same odd behaviour occurs
for a new user. 

(Dolphin 16.08.2, OpenSUSE Leap 42.2, Plasma 5.8.3, Frameworks 5.26.0, Baloo5
5.26.0-2.1, baloo5-widgets 16.08.2-1.1)
