Adding what I can to this. I've experienced this hanging of dialogs (typically
using kdialog from scripts or confirmation dialogs in Dolphin, also once when
printing in a recent LibreOffice AppImage which I assume was using KDE dialogs
through xdg-desktop-portal) since I think about plasma-6.2. It doesn't happen
every single time (or perhaps sometimes the hang is too brief to notice). X11
session, both bare-metal and in Xvnc, Gentoo Linux.

It lasts often close to 10 seconds, with the window decoration drawn but the
interior just showing a snapshot of what was beneath it. The canberra "IO
error" message prints to console when the dialog un-hangs.

Cannot reproduce it when Systemsettings > Colours & Themes > System Sounds >
"Enable notification sounds" is unchecked.
