SUMMARY

I am a poweruser, so I have a lot of windows open at any one time. I like to
use the window-list widget to find ones when I can't see what desktop or
activity they're on.

Currently the view is not scrollable, and it stacks the windows into a grid
that then flows off the screen; this renders the widget practically useless.

I also noted that when I went to take the screenshot, it's now moved over
horizontally to show a different portion of the window list; normally it
appears static and hovering the mouse doesn't get it to move. So overall, the
UX here is somewhat jarring.

I'm not sure why the top item overflows beyond the extent of the screen.
Personally, a modal sort of popup would probably be preferable over this if it
makes it easier to manage, as it seems when I mouse over some items, other
widgets in my panel are now seeing the hover and taking focus when I exit out.

I assume it'd be a trivial change and normally I'd be happy to contribute
something like this, but as I have never really ventured into QML I've given up
after an hour or two of constantly restarting my shell finding it behaves no
differently.

As a sidenote, I know people are busy and not wishing to moan - but in terms of
providing feedback from a user perspective, many of the inbuilt widgets in
Plasma 6 seem to be lacking in configuration and I find similar experiences
with other plasmoids that mean they slow me down rather than speed me up when I
am working. A an example, I've had to modify the activity pager and virtual
desktop switcher to highlight the currently activated one in a bright
contrasting colour, because I just can't see what desktop/activity I am
currently on. The current one is highlighted - but the change in colour is so
small and with the grey rectangles outlining windows, it makes it impossible to
navigate where I am.

>From google it seems that there have been significant changes with KDE 6 and
plasmoids, with third-party contributors needing to migrate their plasmoids -
so I understand that this is to be expected also within the core ones. But I
bring it up as given that each plasmoid is about a page or two of QML and some
styling, it would seem some low-hanging fruit that I expect wouldn't take
someone who actually knows what they're doing ( :) ) very long to implement and
might really improve users' experiences with their desktop. Plasmoids I've
installed from community packages have generally had a much larger range of
configuration options than the builtin ones, which means I can get them to work
well for my workflow, and whilst granted each new configuration option somewhat
exponentially increases the number of code paths to be tested, I'd guess that
adding a few more options out-the-box might help.

Thanks
