SUMMARY
Loading time of HEIC images in collections on network shares is unusable slow.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Map SMB network share on Windows as drive letter
2. Add the mapped drive as a "Collection on Network Shares" in digikam
3. Add several HEIC images to the collection
4. Browse added pictures in preview mode
OBSERVED RESULT
It takes 5 seconds to load a HEIC image in the Collection on Network Shares
when the SMB share is hosted on the local Windows-PC.
It takes about 15 seconds to load a HEIC image if the SMB share os hosted on a
remote Windows PC.
It takes about 1 second to load a HEIC image in a on local collections.
EXPECTED RESULT
Network access should be as fast as local access.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: Windows 11 (24H2)
digikam: 8.6.0 stable and 8.7.0 weely build
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
HEIC images taken on iOS 18 take even longer than older HEIC images - I can
provide sample pictures if needed. I have posted sample pictures before on
