Bug ID: 505531 Summary: Brave (Chromium) fullscreen not covering screen properly on Wayland + Nvidia until reentered Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version First master Reported In: Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: tamim...@gmail.com CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 Description: When using Brave browser (Chromium-based) on Fedora 42 with KDE Plasma (Wayland session) and Nvidia proprietary drivers, entering fullscreen sometimes results in an incomplete fullscreen display (e.g., visible bars, gaps, or offset). This can be temporarily fixed by exiting and re-entering fullscreen mode multiple times. After investigation, a workaround was found: 1. Visit brave://flags/#ozone-platform-hint 2. Set “Preferred Ozone Platform” to “Wayland” 3. Relaunch the browser This resolves the issue completely and consistently. It's unclear whether this is strictly a KDE bug, but since the issue affects window rendering and surface management on Wayland, I'm reporting it here so it can be referenced or redirected appropriately. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Brave browser 2. Play a YouTube video or similar content 3. Press F11 or trigger fullscreen 4. Observe the window not fully covering the screen Expected Results: Window should fully cover the screen when entering fullscreen. Actual Results: Window covers only part of the screen; sometimes gaps or bars are visible. Workaround: Use brave://flags/#ozone-platform-hint → Set to Wayland Additional Info: - KDE Plasma version: 6.3.5 - Kernel: 6.14.9-300.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit) - PU: Nvidia RTX 2070 + proprietary driver [rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA] - Brave version: v1.79.123 (Jun 11, 2025) - Wayland session -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
