It seems it's due to the new feature of checking disks for errors by default.
For me it either outright fails or has an error message like 

An error occurred while accessing 'LinuxDisk', the system responded: An
unspecified error has occurred: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes
include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security
policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection
was broken.

After trying twice, it ultimately succeeds, despite the errors.
