I had the same issue several times with external monitor and power connected.
Just an idle-timeout kicking in, when asking for the password after a next
keypress. I had to kill the kscreenlocker as well.
For me it's not an AMD-related issue since my laptop runs on Intel-CPU with
integrated Intel graphics.
