Bug ID: 509909
Summary: Periodic error "kwin_wayland_drm: Atomic test failed!
Permission denied" followed by strangely frozen window
behaviours
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.4.5
Reported In:
Platform: Arch Linux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: platform-drm

Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
Plasma periodically produces strange behaviours with relation to windows during
normal usage. The following behaviours are seen:
- The cursor gets stuck in some certain state, e.g. after the test failure, if
I move a window with Meta+Left Click, it would lock the cursor into moving said
window (escapable with Esc in this case, not in cases like "getting stuck in
resizing a window")
- The cursor can seemingly only interact with the last window it was on before
the test failure, even if focus is changed via other means (such as keyboard)
- The cursor can no longer interact with the Plasma Shell itself i.e. both
widgets and panels completely ignore the cursor, including the cursor's
position (e.g. with hover-to-reveal panels)
This weird, frozen state can be reset by switching to a different tty, however
this only fixes the problem temporarily.
Might be related to #505762, however changing kernel version hasn't helped in
this case.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Honestly? Idk. I can't tell if this is reproducible on another machine, as I
don't have extra hardware.
