Bug ID: 512301
Summary: When starting KDE/waking from sleep the screen turns
to lines on lower-than-native resolution with a lower
scale.
Classification: Plasma
Product: Breeze
Version First unspecified
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
I didn't see the version I am on in the "Version First Reported In:" box, so
I'll specify now. I am using 6.5.1-2
Details
I recently changed the rendering resolution to a lower one to save power, and I
set the scale to 60-65%, after waking from sleep. the screen was just a
repeating pattern on green - light cyan lines in a gradient. I also noticed on
startup that, before any windows open, it shows up for a brief moment. It is
also important to note that the cursor is still visible and can move around and
interact with things
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
First Method (Sleep method)
1. Set resolution to one lower than native. (1280x720 for me)
2. Lower the scale to make it look like a lower quality version of what you
usually use.
3. Put the device into sleep mode.
4. Wake up the device
Note: It shouldn't matter if you have apps open or not
Second Method (Boot method)
1. Start the device and wait for it to boot.
2. Log-in and change your settings to what was stated in method 1.
3. Save settings and restart your computer.
4. Log back in.
Note: You should only see it for a quick moment before apps open.
OBSERVED RESULT
Lines in a gradient from lime-green to light-cyan (lime-green at the bottom of
each pattern segment, cyan at the top) resulting in something that looks
similar to a broken screen, but less severe. The mouse cursor is still visible
and able to interact with things behind the lines
EXPECTED RESULT
The expected result is to boot into KDE Plasma normally without the lines, with
all windows visible
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.2-1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.19.0-1
Qt Version: 6.10.0-1
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am aware that this is NOT a hardware issue, as I can run at native resolution
just fine, however I have not tried it without scale yet.
