I've checked the contents of my kdeglobals and compared with the one of the
test user. The only difference is the following lines at the beginning in mine:

update_info=filepicker.upd:filepicker-remove-old-previews-entry,fonts_global.upd:Fonts_Global,fonts_global_toolbar.upd:Fonts_Global_Toolbar,icons_remove_effects.upd:IconsRemoveEffects,kwin.upd:animation-speed,style_widgetstyle_default_breeze.upd:StyleWidgetStyleDefaultBreeze

I've removed it from there and tried. Nothing changed. Though, I've noticed
that (thanks to this?) logging out is not affected. Only shutdown and reboot
are affected by the problem.

I noticed this same kind of [$version] block in other config files like kwinrc
and some others. Is it safe to remove them all? I'm thinking of trying this
before trying to...ugh...wipe out the entire config of my desktop...
