            Bug ID: 514432
Summary: desktopfile parameter does not work
    Classification: Applications
           Product: konsole
      Version First master
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
When launching konsole with --desktopfile parameter, this parameter does not
apply the correct desktopfile.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any terminal emulator
2. Run `konsole --desktopfile` and insert name of any other desktopfile you
have, such as `org.kde.neochat`

OBSERVED RESULT
The application still uses `org.kde.konsole` as it's desktopfile

EXPECTED RESULT
The application would use the given desktopfile name

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE Linux 2026-01-10
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1
Kernel Version: 6.18.3-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
Memory: 16 GiB of RAM (15.5 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
First, I have no idea where this desktopfile parameter comes from, since it
does not seem to be handled anywhere within konsole.

Second, you can see what desktopfile is in use by using the kwin window rules
and detecting the window/application properties.

I would use this feature to force desktopfile to Helix.desktop when running
helix application
