            Bug ID: 514456
Summary: Magic Lamp + floating panel stutters badly when
                    minimizing a window
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: kwin
      Version First 6.5.4
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: effects-overview
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set the window minimize animation to "Magic Lamp" in the Animations settings
page, then hit Apply.
2. Make sure at least one panel is set to floating.
3. Maximize a window or just make it touch the panel to make the panel
un-float.
4. Now minimize said window, make sure this triggers the panel to re-float.

OBSERVED RESULT
The screen noticeably stutters and pauses briefly during the minimization
animation. The stutter affects the entire composited scene, the mouse cursor
also freezes briefly.

EXPECTED RESULT
No stutters

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch
KDE Plasma Version: 6.5.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.21.0
Qt Version: 6.10.0
Windowing System: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This bug happens only when the following criteria is met:
- At least one panel is set to floating.
- The "Magic Lamp" effect/animation must be enabled.
- At most one window causing the floating panel(s) to un-float.
- Only when minimizing the window, never when restoring it, although this
triggers the panel animation.
If any of the above factors aren't present, the issue doesn't occur.

The presence or absence of other effects or animations doesn't seem to affect
the outcome.

I've only started to get this issue recently (last month or so), even though
I've always been using this same combination of settings and regularly
maximizing/minimizing windows, I suspect it may be a regression somewhere.
