Bug ID: 516168
Summary: Keyboard input lost at login greeter and in Plasma
session with kernel 6.19 (works on 6.18)
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.5.5
Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: wayland-generic
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
After updating (via pacman) to kernel 6.19 on CachyOS, Keyboard input not
accepted in Plasma Login Manager greeter. I'm on a Thinkpad T460s using the
built-in keyboard..
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Update cachyos to kernel 6.19.0 via pacman -Syu
2. Reboot to plasma login manager (currently on 6.5.91)
3. Keyboard fails at Plasma Login greeter and in the full session
OBSERVED RESULT
- Keyboard does not respond at the Plasma Login greeter (can't type password)
- Mouse/touchpad works normally in the greeter
- Keyboard works fine on TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F2)
- Starting startplasma-wayland manually from TTY: neither keyboard nor mouse
works
in KDE
- No kernel errors -- dmesg shows the keyboard is recognized
- Input devices correctly assigned to seat0
EXPECTED RESULT
normal entry of password.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
After upgrading to linux-cachyos 6.19.0-2, keyboard input stopped working at
the
Plasma Login Manager. Mouse works fine. Rolling back using CachyOS snapper to
6.18.9-3 fixes it. I haven't tried updating to 6.19.2 yet because the changelog
seems unrelated to this.
System:
- ThinkPad T460s
- plasma-login-manager 6.5.91-1
- kwin_wayland compositor
- Built-in ThinkPad keyboard
