Bug ID: 516215
Summary: Add On-Screen Display (OSD) feedback for playlist
track changes and seek actions
Classification: Applications
Product: Haruna
Version First 1.7.1
Reported In:
Platform: Flatpak
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
Currently, Haruna transitions between playlist tracks and performs seek actions
silently, without visual feedback in the video area. I request the addition of
an On-Screen Display (OSD) overlay to provide immediate visual confirmation of
these actions, similar to the volume change OSD.
DESIRED BEHAVIOR
The OSD should appear in the following scenarios:
1. Playlist Transition: When the player advances to the next video
(automatically or manually), display a message such as "Playing: [Filename]" or
the video title.
2. Seeking: When using seek shortcuts (e.g., arrow keys), display the action
taken (e.g., "Forward 10s", "Rewind 10s") or the new current timestamp.
CURRENT BEHAVIOR
The player changes tracks or seeks without any overlay text. The user must look
at the playlist sidebar or the bottom seek bar to confirm that the track has
changed or the seek was registered.
CONTEXT
This kind of immediate visual feedback is standard in many backend engines
(like MPV) and other players. It greatly improves the user experience,
particularly when watching in full-screen mode where UI elements are often
hidden.
