I've been experiencing this same issue for a while now.

When waking up the system via Wake-On-LAN, oftentimes the displays are turned
on (backlight is clearly visible), but stay black (nothing is being displayed).
The bad thing about this is that this state persists until a key is pressed or
the mouse is moved, i.e. the displays will never be sent back to sleep
automatically (waited for over an hour to test but nothing ever happens,
backlights stay on, screens stay black).

Also happens sometimes when waking the system via keypress or mouse movement, a
bit harder to observe since one will usually keep hitting keys or moving the
mouse until the system shows is a visible reaction.
