Shortcuts

Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR

I used gdb and used the Arch Wiki guide to get this backtrace from the crash
SUMMARY
System Settings crashes when I search for alacritty in Shortcuts
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have Alacritty installed
2. In System Settings > Shortcuts, add a new path for a shortcut to the
Alacritty application
3. Search for alacritty in the Shortcuts section
4. Delete most of the text, to the point where it changes the right side of the
app (where the shortcuts themselves show up) to a different application
5. Type in alacritty again. The moment that you write "ala" it crashes
OBSERVED RESULT
It crashes without any warnings or any messages. The only place I found an
error (outside of gdb) was sudo dmesg -w, where there was one line for the
crash
EXPECTED RESULT
It just finds the alacritty option and lets me edit it like it's supposed to
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I did a bit of testing and I think it's a bug with the naming system or
something because It's not exactly related to the Alacritty program but the
name of the path. If you for example make a shortcut for a command "alacritty",
it will crash the same way
What I tried:
Created a new user to test it. it had the same behavior when I added the
alacritty path again
Used a command instead of an application shortcut path
Some other stuff that I do not recall
What I suggest:
Could be a naming system issue where when you type in the search bar "al" it
thinks of the Alt key and searched for shortcuts with Alt and then switches up
or something, although I'm not sure
I apologize if this issue was already stated, but I did not find someone having
an exact issue that I did, and sorry if the backtrace I attached is wrong. If
it is, please contact me by my email so that I can update the post with the
correct one. The reason I'm saying this is because I never really tried getting
a backtrace for a crash before so I could've made a mistake and got a backtrace
for something else
Thanks
