I couldn't read all the answers, but on openSUSE Tumbleweed, *if kde partition
manager* installed, thre is a new option in the drop down menu in the
notification panel, to open kde partition manager and if don so, opens with the
correct device selected. Looks like it's a good at least partial solution.
