            Bug ID: 517674
Summary: Dim Automatically is broken on PC
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First master
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: Power management & brightness
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Newer releases of plasma kde borked DIM AUTOMATICALLY option in power settings.
It’s a small setting there which just dims screen after some inactivity (5 min
by default). It worked great in past on Fedora and CachyOS Plasma KDE but got
issues now. Nothing happens.

Everyone confirms it working only on laptops for some reason but not on PC now.
Two confirmed it works on laptops and three said it is borked now on pc but
worked recently.

Also I checked older versions of both distros (who had older KDE PLASMA) and it
works great but is borked in newer releases on both BUT works on laptops.

My speculation is that its ain’t seeing path to monitors backlight now and
wants to dim something different… maybe keyboard? I think about it because in
my terminal journey I came across ::kana2 line which seems to be keyboard light
and that monitor autodim now tries to work with it? Just my guess, I don’t know
anything in coding.
