Bug ID: 519938
Summary: Show ETA and remaining data before drive can be safely
removed
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell
Version First 6.6.3
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Automount
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: 1.0
DESCRIPTION
After having to wait for a bit to unmount some devices I was copying large
files to, I started wishing the notification toast that says I can't safely
remove the drive would tell me the following:
1. How long until I can safely remove my drive
2. How much data remains
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Insert USB flash drive (any type of external drive should do)
2. Mount flash drive
3. Copy large files to the drive
4. Click "Safely Remove" on flash drive icon
OBSERVED RESULT
Indicator says to wait until drive finishes flushing data to disk.
EXPECTED RESULT
Indicator says how long (approximately) to wait and how much data remains.
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a
terminal window): Debian 13.4.0 Amd64
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
None; this is a minor QoL improvement, but I believe it would be very easy to
implement and that things like this are often the difference between a good UX
and a great UX.
