Bug ID: 520434
Summary: Pen loses tablet focus after leaving proximity on
Wayland (Fedora 44, ASUS ProArt PX13)
Classification: Applications
Product: krita
Version First 6.0.1
Reported In:
Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: Tablets (tablet issues are only very rarely bugs in
Krita!)
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
On Fedora 44 with GNOME 50 on Wayland, using the built-in stylus on an ASUS
ProArt PX13 (HN7306WU), the pen loses tablet focus whenever it leaves the
digitizer's proximity zone. To restore input, the user must interact with the
system UI (e.g. click the taskbar or another window) before Krita will
recognize the pen again. This breaks drawing flow significantly.
Additionally, the eraser end of my stylus is not recognized as an eraser tool,
it registers as a secondary pen preset instead.
Tested with both the Fedora RPM package (6.0.1) and the Flatpak version. The
Flatpak behaves differently, recognizing the eraser as a distinct tool but does
not accept drawing input from it. The RPM accepts pen drawing input but does
not distinguish the eraser.
The built-in digitizer works correctly in browser-based canvas applications
(tested with Magma), suggesting the issue is specific to Krita's tablet input
handling rather than the hardware or system drivers.
This is not an external drawing tablet. The stylus is the built-in digitizer of
the ASUS ProArt PX13, a 2-in-1 convertible laptop. The hardware is confirmed
working correctly given the Krita Tablet Tester shows correct and consistant
pen input, but these inputs do not function correctly on the canvas itself.
