--- Comment #3 from Faidon Liambotis <[email protected]> --- This was not on HiDPI, but 1080p. 15MB was on the very low end - I also reported a repro case with 100MB per window, ramping up up to 5GB with just 50 windows. Both cases were with 80x24 terminal emulators, not anything that you would consider as "heavy". To your question about baseline - It's been over a year, so I don't have access to the original figures anymore, but according to my original report, baseline @ 0 windows) was 600MB. I consider even 1.3GB RES to be excessive, let alone 5GB. More importantly though my original report also mentioned a leak - i.e. memory would not be entirely freed up and constantly increase over the lifetime of the session. I'm not sure if that's the case anymore. I was getting so frequent OOMs (and/or swap usage, depending on the config) on my 32GB memory laptop and because of this and a few other reasons I got a new laptop and spec'ed it with 64GB of RAM... There is plenty of headroom now, so I haven't had an OOM and I haven't a reason to dig further. I'm also on a HiDPI screen now, and run Plasma 6.6 w/ kwin 6.6.2 nowadays (Debian testing/forky). FWIW current usage as i write this is at 4297M VIRT, 1344M RES, 291M SHR with a modest amount of windows (30-40?). kwin still tops out everything else in my system in terms of memory usage, with Firefox being a close second... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
