I'm happy that there is a work-around and i is great that there is an upstream issue, but a bit sad that the latter has not yet led to a solution. One suggestion: would it be an idea to add to the upstream issue the description of the likely cause, from the comment above (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487895#c13)? It does seem that that narrowed down the problem considerably, but it is not mentioned in the upstream bug.
