Thank you for your work. Kdenlive is powerful and free, but for beginners it is
too complicated. I suggest making it simpler and more modern, like Filmora or
CapCut, with a no-headache interface.
Here is everything that should be improved.
A cleaner interface with fewer buttons, more colors, and clear icons. A
beginner mode with only basic tools and an expert mode for pros. Modern pop-up
windows when adding a title or effect. Bigger and more expressive icons.
An effect library with animated thumbnails to see the effect before dragging
it. Transitions organized by categories like fade, push, zoom, glitch with
icons. Ready-to-use effect packs like cinema, vintage, glitch, blur. Built-in
overlays ready for drag and drop. One-click automatic audio effects to clean
voice, remove noise, improve sound.
Modern title templates like lower thirds and credits. One-click text animations
for fade in, fade out, zoom, scroll. A text editor built into the video preview
where you click on the screen, type, and move the box like on Canva. Stickers
and graphic elements like arrows, circles, emojis, shapes ready to use.
Drag an effect directly onto a clip in the timeline without opening a menu.
Drag a title or sticker from a library. Drag a transition between two clips
with live preview. Drag to stretch or shorten duration without going through
menus.
Automatic silence detection to cut all gaps in audio in one click. One-click
automatic chroma key removal. Automatic video stabilization without complicated
settings. Export presets for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram. Face detection to
automatically add blur. Automatic audio to subtitles conversion.
A built-in library with transitions, effects, titles, stickers, overlays, sound
effects, all organized by category with images. Ability to download packs from
the KDE Store directly inside the software. Project templates like YouTube
montage, TikTok, wedding video.
A drawing tool to draw directly on the video like arrows, circles, text,
highlighting for tutorials and sports analysis.
Today, beginners and YouTube creators want free, simple and modern software.
Kdenlive loses users because it looks scary. These improvements would attract
thousands of new users fleeing Filmora which is paid and has spyware.
I am not asking to remove advanced features for pros, just to add a simple mode
and modern tools.
