Bug ID: 521282
Summary: Clipboard copy & paste function does not work with
permanently deleted files
Classification: Applications
Product: dolphin
Version First 25.04.3
Reported In:
Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general

Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
When copying a file to the clipboard in Dolphin and then permanently deleting
the source file using the context menu "Delete" action, pasting the file fails.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin.
2. Go to preferences and enable the "Delete" action (bypassing the trash bin)
in the context menu settings.
3. Select any file and copy it to the clipboard via context menu.
4. Permanently delete the original file with the now enabled context menu entry
"Delete".
5. Navigate to any other folder and try to paste the file from the clipboard.
OBSERVED RESULT
The paste operation fails because the file no longer exists. Dolphin displays
the following error message:
"The file or folder test.txt does not exist."
EXPECTED RESULT
The clipboard should hold the actual file data or handle the cache properly so
that copying a file, deleting the source, and pasting it elsewhere still works.
