There seems to be some background here: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/experimental-flag-for-hiding-snap/28509 It includes a discussion about "user facing" data appearing under ~/Snap as part of the larger move to ~/.snap/data. I understand "user facing" as "worth indexing".
