I tried the version you recommended from the website but had the same problem. I also tried installing the program on a laptop (I initially encountered the problem on my PC) and the same thing happened. If you tell me that you can add accents to letters from the keyboard, it's probably due to an incompatibility with the keyboards in my region (Latin America). As an additional note: about five years ago, I was able to add accents to words in Krita using the keyboard. The issue started after a specific update.
