Bug ID: 521394
Summary: Wishlist: Option to maintain "Show Desktop" state when
launching new applications
Classification: Plasma
Product: plasmashell

Target Milestone: 1.0
I would like to suggest a new optional feature for the "Show Desktop" (Desktop
Grid/Minimize All) functionality in Plasma.
Currently, when I activate "Show Desktop" (using Meta+D or the "Show Desktop"
button) and then launch a new application, Plasma automatically restores the
previously minimized windows.
It would be a great quality-of-life improvement if there was an option in the
settings to prevent this behavior. I would prefer that the windows remain
minimized even after launching a new application, similar to the behavior in
Windows OS. This allows for a cleaner workspace management when I want to
launch an app while keeping the desktop clear.
Proposed change: An option (e.g., "Keep windows minimized when launching new
applications") within the "Show Desktop" or "KWin" settings would be highly
appreciated.
Thanks for your hard work on such an amazing desktop environment!
