            Bug ID: 521452
Summary: KWin main thread hangs after "EDID colorimetry is
                    invalid" on Samsung Odyssey G65B
    Classification: I don't know
           Product: kde
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: CachyOS
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: grave
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

DESCRIPTION
KWin 6.6.5-4.1 main thread hangs after logging "EDID colorimetry is invalid"
on Samsung Odyssey G65B monitor. Desktop becomes completely frozen (no input,
no display updates) while SSH remains functional. Only restarting KWin via
kwin_wayland_wrapper resolves it, but it can and did reoccur.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect Samsung Odyssey G65B (2560x1440 @ 240 Hz) via DP to NVIDIA GPU
2. Run KDE Plasma 6 on Wayland with kwin 6.6.5-4.1
3. Wait for KWin to re-parse EDID data (can occur on monitor power cycle,
display mode change, or spontaneously during normal use)

OBSERVED RESULT
- Journal shows: "EDID colorimetry xy(0.330078, 0.297852) ... is invalid"
- Immediately after: "The main thread was hanging temporarily!" (twice)
- Desktop freezes completely, KWin DBus interface stops responding
- KWin process shows state R with ~100% CPU but main thread stuck
- Only kwin_wayland_wrapper restarting the process recovers the desktop

EXPECTED RESULT
- KWin should handle EDID colorimetry data gracefully without hanging
- Invalid EDIT colorimetry values should be logged as warnings but not
  block the compositor main thread

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: CachyOS Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.26.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.0.12-1-cachyos (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER, driver 610.43.02 (open kernel module)
- Secondary monitor: PHL 241V8LAB (1920x1080 @ 100 Hz, HDMI) - works fine
- Regression: kwin 6.6.5-3.1 did NOT exhibit this issue
- EDID CTA-861 Block 1 of Odyssey G65B declares Colorimetry Data Block:
  xvYCC601, xvYCC709, BT2020YCC, BT2020RGB and HDR Static Metadata (PQ)
