Option to remove Bookmark has disappeared from bookmarks sidebar but page
viewer is on the page of the bookmark
DESCRIPTION
When adding multiple bookmarks to the same PDF page on a file that previously
did not have any bookmarks, it is not possible to delete the first added
bookmark (or last bookmark to be deleted) of 2 bookmarks on the same page using
the Bookmarks sidebar. It is only possible to use Browse tool > Remove Bookmark
> Previous Bookmark > Remove Bookmark. Also, after removing the first Bookmark
on the same page, it will stop showing the "Remove Bookmark" option in the
right-click menu until the user clicks Previous Bookmark (the pdf viewer will
scroll upwards a few pixels) and then "Remove Bookmark" reappears in the
right-click menu of the Browse tool. I am not sure why it is possible to create
2 Bookmarks for the same page, but I accidentally did and then I had a Bookmark
I could not delete using CTRL + B. Using that keyboard shortcut repeatedly only
appeared and disappeared the second bookmark, it did not delete bookmark 2 then
bookmark 1. Bookmark 1 stayed. I also tried removing the first of the two
bookmarks using the bookmarks sidebar, but after removing one of the two, the
last remaining bookmark did not show the "Remove Bookmark" button in the lower
left corner. And right-clicking the last bookmark did reveal "Remove Bookmark"
but selecting that option did not remove the Bookmark. And the option "Remove
All Bookmarks for this Document" did not work either after selecting it. The
last Bookmark still remained.
Note:
For bookmarks that are created 'normally' just one per page, the bookmarks
cannot be managed all at the same time via the bookmarks sidebar. The bookmarks
sidebar will only delete the bookmark if the page view is pointed at that
bookmarked page. Once that bookmark is deleted, the user is now on a
unbookmarked page and selecting any bookmark related to another page inside the
Bookmarks sidebar, will not allow the user to delete it. Bookmarks are
undeletable unless the user double-clicks the bookmark, goes to that location
and then removing it inside the Bookmarks sidebar will ACTUALLY remove it.
This is counterintuitive because the Bookmarks sidebar in most pdf viewers is a
global menu that can delete previously created bookmarks regardless of what
page the page viewer is on.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add bookmark using CTRL + B or Browse >> Add Bookmark at page X at height
100%
2. . Add bookmark using CTRL + B or Browse >> Add Bookmark at page X at height
130% (so 70% of page X and 30% of page Y is visible).
3. Press CTRL + B to remove the second bookmark, second bookmark will be
removed
4. Press CTRL + B to remove the first bookmark, the first bookmark will not be
removed.
5. Right-click with mouse on the first bookmark in the Bookmark sidebar,
right-click on either the name of the bookmark and select "Remove all
bookmarks" or select the Bookmark number itself #X
6. Select "Remove Bookmark"
7. Bookmark will remain.
8. The physical button in the Bookmark Sidebar in the lower left corner that
upon selecting the second bookmark still displayed "Remove Bookmark" now only
displays "Add Bookmark".
OBSERVED RESULT
Multiple bookmarks possible for same page (tested up to three) and only the
last bookmark can get deleted.
EXPECTED RESULT
The first bookmark remains forever inside the pdf.
