There are two options here:
1. The firmware handles the key event and triggers the relevant system
functionality internally
2. The firmware fires a standard key event and expects the OS to handle it

So yeah, it seems like option 2 is the case here.

I'm not sure we have this feature implemented — nor am I sure at what level of
the stack it would need to be done. Pretty sure it's not Plasmashell though.
