Hi, TraceyC. Excellent request! I created another user on the same system and
that user does not have this issue.

My problematic user account has been backed-up and tarred across multiple
machines over a very long period of time running Sabayon (a sadly discontinued
Linux distribution) and then Kubuntu and I have always used KDE. (Once Upon A
Time, A Long Time Ago, I ran Knoppix, which I believe was a KDE predecessor.)
I also suspect that there might be something wrong with the contents in my
configuration files, but do not know how to cleanse and restart without badly
breaking stuff and rendering my account unusable. If such a thing would work,
I would save off all possibly corrupted files and reconfigure from scratch if
necessary, but I lack the how-to knowledge. If you can provide me with
pointers, links or suggestions, I'm willing to try. I'd really like to get
Wayland working for me.

One more wrinkle: I run dual monitors. One monitor died very recently and I
replaced it with another monitor. Now when I login with my account, I have to
always reset the display configuration to show the new monitor on the right
since the new monitor on the right comes up on the left. HOWEVER, with the new
user account, when I login the monitor is exactly where it was configured...on
the right.

So, if you can tell me if I need to move configuration files (which you
specify) to a safe place and then logout/login to recreate the default
configuration files, then I will attempt to do that along with reconfiguring my
entire desktop. It's likely a lot of work but it's worth the pain if I can get
Wayland and my new dual monitor setup working properly.

Thank you very much in advance!
