Bug ID: 521842
Summary: KRunner ignores Enter and click on a freshly typed
query. The selected result only launches after
deleting a character.
Classification: Plasma
Product: krunner
Version First 6.7.0
Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
After upgrading to Plasma 6.7.0, KRunner frequently refuses to launch the
highlighted/selected result. The query text is accepted, results appear, and I
can navigate them with the arrow keys, but pressing Enter does nothing and
clicking the result does nothing either. Deleting a single character from the
query makes launching work again immediately. This did not happen on Plasma
6.6.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KRunner with a query still present from a previous use (e.g.
"konsole"). Press Enter without typing anything -> the app launches correctly.
2. Now type at least one more character(e.g. "k" or "kon"). Press Enter or
click the result.
3. Delete one character. Press Enter or click again.
OBSERVED RESULT
- Step 2: nothing happens. Neither Enter nor mouse click launches the selected
result.
- After deleting one character, launching works again (both Enter and click).
- So: an already-settled result list launches fine, but as soon as a new
character is typed the run action stops firing until the query is shortened
again.
EXPECTED RESULT
Pressing Enter or clicking the selected result should always launch it,
regardless of whether a character was just added or removed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Reproducible with ALL runners disabled except "Applications", so it is not
caused by a specific/slow runner.
- Rebuilding the service cache (kbuildsycoca6 --noincremental) and restarting
plasma-krunner.service did not help.
- Started immediately after upgrading from Plasma 6.6 to 6.7.0.
